On June 13, 2024, at 11 AM CST, America's Conservation Ag Movement (ACAM) will host a pivotal town hall on Zoom, spotlighting the vital intersection between conservation and historically underserved farming communities. This engaging 90-minute session aims to shed light on how conservation efforts can benefit farmers and ranchers often overlooked in traditional agricultural programs.
Attendees will gain insights from a diverse lineup of presenters, including Timothy Rhodd and Missty Slater of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, Sarah Blaney from the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts, Willard Tillman of the Oklahoma Black Historical Research Project, Inc., Jimmy Emmons from ACAM and an Oklahoma rancher, along with experts from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and ACAM's private partners. These voices will explore how regenerative agriculture practices can thrive within sovereign nations and the ways conservation leaders are advocating for more inclusive, equitable agricultural policies.
"Together with our partners, we are working towards a more inclusive agriculture landscape, ensuring that ALL farmers and ranchers have equal opportunities to benefit from conservation programs," stated Sarah Blaney, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts.
The town hall will provide a platform for local and national farmer-innovators to share their experiences and successes in leveraging conservation programs, highlighting the transformative potential of regenerative agriculture in underserved communities.
